Our editorial approach.
Historical writing should help a reader check a claim, understand its context and recognise where the evidence ends.
Non-fiction only
This is a non-fiction history publication. We do not invent historical events, people, quotations, dialogue, personal memories or eyewitness scenes. A plausible detail is not treated as a fact without documentary support. Approximate dates and unresolved questions remain qualified.
Each article includes documented reference points linking selected statements to named records and the relevant passage or section. Regulatory sources establish the matters described in those records; citing them does not mean that a regulator has endorsed, reviewed or approved this publication.
Evidence before a good story
We prioritise museum collections, public archives, regulatory histories, municipal records and identifiable institutional sources. Academic references are included where useful. Corporate histories can establish an opening or construction date, but their language about prestige or commercial success is not adopted as an independent assessment.
Facts and interpretation
Article sections identify their sources. Interpretation is presented as editorial analysis, rather than as a reported event or quotation. A bibliography-only entry is listed for further reading and is not used to substantiate details from inaccessible full text. Sections labelled “Editorial context and interpretation” explain a method or draw a comparison rather than claiming to reproduce a historical document. A bibliography alone does not make every possible statement true; the relationship between a source and a passage must remain intelligible.
Dates, definitions and uncertainty
Approximate dates remain approximate. A date for the manufacture of a museum object is distinguished from its use, and the closure of a business from demolition of its building. Claims such as “first” are tied to a defined institution and a named source. We avoid current “largest casino” rankings because floor area, hotel capacity and total resort size are different, changing measures.
Using older sources
A regulator’s history page may contain revenue figures that were current when it was written. We use its historical chronology without presenting those figures as present-day statistics. A historical technical standard illustrates the development of regulation; readers should consult the responsible regulator for current requirements.
Originality and image provenance
The editorial text is an original synthesis, not a reproduction of source articles. Historical photographs have captions that distinguish their period and subject. Original line illustrations are labelled as illustrations. Image credits and licensing notes are collected on the sources page.
Corrections and review
The launch edition was reviewed on 21 October 2026. If you encounter a discrepancy, compare the linked original source and note the article address, disputed passage, proposed correction and supporting record. This static publication currently has no contact inbox, submission form or automated correction service. We do not imply that a note saved in your browser reaches an editor. Published amendments should update the relevant article’s review date.
Commercial boundaries
This edition has no sponsored placements, display advertising, affiliate links or operator rankings. Source selection is for historical documentation. The site does not accept wagers, process money or provide gambling strategies.
